Anupam Chakraborty is Founder and Creative Director of Nirupama Academy of Handmade Paper. Anupam is an artist, designer and papermaker. It is his vision that has shaped Nirupama Academy.

Anupam’s artistic sensibilities reflect a fusion of the traditional Indian craft of papermaking with contemporary aesthetic thinking that envisages paper as an art object in its own right. He is an alumnus of Viswa Bharati, Santiniketan, M. S. University, Baroda and Glasgow School of Art, U.K. and is the recipient of prestigious national and international awards and scholarships. He has taught in several institutes of Fine Arts and Designs in India. Anupam’s creations have featured in numerous art exhibitions in Europe, America and India.

He is a member of International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists (IAPMA).
